NFC Location Tags

The NFC Location Tags feature requires an NFC Tag to be scanned before a carer is able to start work on the Care App. The Location Tags help increase the Care App’s security, by ensuring that if a device were to be taken outside of the home, care records on the App cannot be accessed. This feature can also be used to increase the security of the Dynamic IP Whitelist, by ensuring the IP address captured by the Care App is from the Location.

When using this feature, the main requirements are to have an Android mobile device, which is either provided or supported by person centred software and the chosen tags are NTAG216 specification.

IP Address Whitelist (Dynamic)

Important information

Before enabling the IP Whitelist, please ensure you have identified any admin users or users that access monitor outside of the home.

As Monitor and the Care App are applications that by default can be accessed over the internet from anywhere, including mobile data networks, your Organisation may wish to restrict access to networks within their control.

One option available to do this and keep both Monitor and the Care App secure, is to maintain the permitted IP addresses dynamically using the Care App and location tags. The Dynamic IP Whitelist ensures secure access to Monitor is maintained, by logging the location IP addresses through using the NFC tags with the Care App.

It is recommended this feature is used in conjunction with the NFC Location Tags to increase the security of the Dynamic IP Whitelist. If using location tags, the main requirements are to have an Android mobile device, which is either provided or supported by Person Centred Software and the chosen tags are NTAG216 specification.

IP Address Allow List (Specified)

Important information

Before enabling the IP Allow List, please ensure you have identified any admin users or users that access monitor outside of the home.

As Monitor and the Care App are applications that by default can be accessed over the internet from anywhere, including mobile data networks, your Organisation may wish to restrict access to networks within their control.

There are a couple of options available to restrict access to both Monitor and the Care App, by specifying the permitted list of the organisation’s IP addresses that Monitor or Care App access is allowed from. This option enables an internal IT team to manually set a list of IP addresses, which ensures that only devices on the specified whitelisted IP addresses can access Monitor.

If you do not have an internal IT Team or individual who can manually manage your IP addresses, but still wish to have the option to restrict access to Monitor to your network, then please see the Dynamic IP Allow List feature documentation.

Device Timed Lockout

The Device Timed Lockout (NFC Device Lockout) feature enables devices at a location to be locked out of the Care App, after a period of inactivity. The lockout feature is designed to help protect sensitive information being accessed by unauthorised people if a device has been set aside unattended.  When enabled the NFC lockout feature requires a user to unlock the Care App using a registered NFC Unlock Tag.

When using this feature, the main requirements are to have an Android mobile device, which is either provided or supported by Person Centred Software and the chosen tags are NTAG216 specification.

Set Password Policy

Introducing a stronger password policy makes passwords less guessable and less vulnerable to fraudulent use. There are several password configuration parameters available to set for your organisation in Monitor, to allow for varying levels of password complexity.

When implementing this feature, we recommend using real email accounts for domains controlled by the organisation, so that they can use the Forgotten Passwords feature. Where real email addresses for each user is not feasible, then organisations will need to make sure they have a process for resetting users (this cannot be done by Person Centred Software’s support desk).
